Kevin-Thomas Walters (North Okanagan Knights), Liam Furlong (Golden Rockets) and Nathan Presley (Beaver Valley Nitehawks) have been selected as the Instat KIJHL 3 Stars of the Week for the period ending Jan. 29.
Walters – Top Forward – The Vernon product had a big week with five goals and six assists in three games, helping the Knights win all three of their games. Walter began the week with a three goal, four-point performance against the Osoyoos Coyotes in a 6-2 win, which he opened the scoring. Against Kelowna in their first game, Walters netted the insurance goal in a 7-1 win and added two assists. In their second game against Kelowna, Walters had a goal and three assists in a 5-4 win. He assisted on the winning goal. Walters leads the Knights with 53 points in 33 games and ranks 10th in the KIJHL in points.
Furlong – Top Defenceman – The Calgary product collected two goals and three assists in three games. In their 6-5 loss to the Nelson Leafs, Furlong had a goal and three assists. In a 5-4 shootout victory over the Castlegar Rebels, Furlong had given the Rockets a 4-3 lead after they had erased a 3-0 deficit. In 37 games, Furlong has 12 goals and 28 points which ranks him fifth on the Rockets in points and second among defencemen. The 19-year-old has established career highs in goals and assists and is six points away from 50 in the KIJHL.
Presley- Top Goalie – The Calgary product earned his eighth win of the season with a 55-save performance against the Columbia Valley Rockies in a 3-2 overtime victory. Of his 55 saves, Presley stopped 26 of 27 shots in the third period and all five he faced in OT. Presley has won his last four starts since Dec. 29 and has a 3.17 GAA and a .908 SP.
