Ethan Coventry (Revelstoke Grizzlies), Fraser O’Brien (North Okanagan Knights) and Connor Stojan (Beaver Valley Nitehawks) have been selected the Hudl Instat Kootenay International Junior Hockey League 3 Stars of the Week for the period ending March 10/24.
Coventry – Top Forward – The Calgary product netted back-to-back hat-tricks for the Grizzlies to help them earn a 2-0 series lead on the Kamloops Storm in their Teck Cup playoff series. In Game 1, Coventry scored consecutive goals to help the Grizzlies erase a 3-0 deficit, then scored an empty net goal to secure a 5-3 win. In Game 2, Coventry scored the 1-1 goal, then with the Grizzlies up 3-2, sealed another win with two long empty-net goals. During the regular season, Coventry had 24 points in 40 regular season games, and now leads the Grizzlies with nine goals and 10 points in seven playoff games.
O’Brien – Top Defenceman – The Armstrong product collected three assists to help the Knights take a 2-0 series lead on the Princeton Posse. In Game 1, O’Brien assisted on the goal to cut the Posse lead to 4-2 as they went on to win 5-4 in overtime. In Game 2, he assisted on the first two Knights goals in a 5-3 win. O’Brien was plus-three in both games combined and had two shot blocks, while playing 24 and 26 minutes, respectively, per Hudl Instat data. O’Brien has three assists in three games, matching his season output in 13 regular season games.
Stojan – Top Goalie – The Grande Prairie, Alta product stopped 49 of 52 shots and helped the Nitehawks split their first two games against the Grand Forks Border Bruins with a .942 save percentage and a 1.50 goals against average. In Game 1, Stojan made 26 saves in a 2-1 loss, surrendering the winner with seven seconds remaining. In Game 2, Stojan enjoyed a 23-save performance in a 5-1 win. In seven Teck Cup playoff games, Stojan has six wins with a 1.37 GAA and a .948 SP.
