Hayden Evans (Sicamous Eagles), Colton Fleming (North Okanagan Knights) and Luke Roberts (Chase Heat) have been selected the Hudl Instat Kootenay International Junior Hockey League 3 Stars of the Week for the period ending Dec 17.
Evans- Top Forward – The Revelstoke product had two goals and three assists in two games to help the Eagles earn a pair of wins against the 100 Mile House Wranglers and Columbia Valley Rockies. Against the Wranglers, Evans set up two goals, including the game-winner by Owen Dewitt in a 9-2 final. Against the Rockies in a 4-2 win, Evans had two goals and an assist. Evans scored to tie the game at one, then made a big effort on an empty-net insurance goal for his 20th of the season. Evans is fourth in the KIJHL with 40 points in 27 games, and ranks second among all league rookies behind his linemate Dewitt.
Fleming – Top Defenceman – The Salmon Arm product had three goals and one assist in three games to help the Knights earn wins over the Osoyoos Coyotes and Kelowna Chiefs. Against the Coyotes in a 4-1 win, Fleming netted a hat-trick, including the winning goal. Against the Chiefs in a 2-1 victory on Dec. 16, Fleming assisted on the first goal. Fleming finished with a plus-three rating. In 21 games, Fleming has 15 points to lead the Knights’ blueline.
Roberts – Top Goalie- The St. Albert, Alta., product helped the Heat defeat the Columbia Valley Rockies 4-1 on Dec. 15. Roberts had a 38-save performance, including 16 saves in the second period, for a .974 save percentage and a 1.00 goals against average. Roberts has four wins in 10 games with a 3.66 GAA and a .898 SP. He earned his first KIJHL win in his debut against 100 Mile House on Sept. 30.
